Nice apartments and amenities and the worst management company and noise
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartment had nice natural light, very spacious, great staff working in the building and the gym and club amenities were really good.
Cons:
The management company only cares about money, they try to include crazy and unreallistic fees for everything and this means they don't care at all for your needs or for maintaining a good relationship, even if you are a 10/10 tenant. That's mainly the reason why I left a place I used to like to live somewhere else. There is a construction going on which is insanely loud on weekdays and it goes very slow, it has been going for years now and no estimate to end.

For you own sanity, don't move in there. Extremely noisy environment.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Mail room staff is polite and goes above and beyond.
Cons:
Management is a complete joke. Front desk is borderline rude. Washing machines and driers are out of service half the time. Water coming out of faucets is sometimes brown with no explanations. Elevators break so that it takes you 20+ minutes to exit the building. Management does not follow they own rules about dogs; people are sometimes attacked in elevators. Besides all that, work on the facade is extremely noisy, you will NOT enjoy living there. Any reviews those past years saying otherwise are either lying or not yet affect by the noise. Trust me, their tone will change as it gets to them.
Advice to owner:
Listen to your tenants and stop being money-greedy.

Other Than Construction on Building, Great Experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Wonderful doormen and staff. Very safe. Nice space.
Cons:

DRILLING AND CLOSED AMENITIES STAY AWAY
Former Tenant
Pros:
Friendly staff (door men, maintenance, etc)
Cons:
Oh my god everything else. The the vents have not been cleaned in the apartments so you constantly get dust all over your room. The heater/air conditioner in my room was stuck blowing heat and it was 75° outside. There was multiple weeks where they were doing some elevator work, and they closed one elevator at a time for a weeks where they were doing some elevator work, and they closed all 3 in a 36 story building. They will randomly close large portions of the club level and amenities, including both roof decks. There’s an additional club fee if you want to utilize the workspace and gym — they failed to tell me that both of the roof decks would be closed indefinitely before I signed up. They also have on-site laundry however, if you use the laundry chances are your clothes are going to come out fucked up. They have been doing a building exterior check for the past four months and will send you an email on the week that your apartment is scheduled to be affected by the ground shaking demolition/drilling noises for the entire day from 8 AM until 4 PM. They offer 1 to 2 suites for people to go work and reserve in two hour increments, which is not helpful if you work from home. I can’t imagine if I had children. The noise level has gotten to the point where I’ve had to call out of work because I had a migraine, and I had to leave my apartment.

Overall an absolute nightmare.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Shoutout goes to the mailroom who works hard to receive, sort and hand parcels to residents.
Cons:
If you are thinking into moving in at Normandie Court, I would strongly suggest you reconsider. Some construction work started mid August 2022 and are still ongoing (management refuses to communicate an end date), which uses power drilling machines as well as power saws from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. The noise is a nightmare and is to bang your head on the wall. Multiple tenants have reached out to management, they simply do not care about their tenants. Regardless of your personal situation, they won’t help in any way. Once you move in, you are blocked.

Besides this complete joke, here are the other things you’ll experience:

- Elevators take ages to arrive, and quite often the next one will be too crowded for you to get in, you’ll have to wait longer. Queues form at the ground level to get up,
- Half the washing machine are “out of service” and take ages to be repaired. Once my laundry was stuck in one of those. All I could do was call a phone number that was unable to help. Of the machines in working order, half will be full of pet hair, in which you don’t want to wash your clothes. Nobody empty lint drawers ever. Plain disgusting,
- The water in sinks/baths regularly turns brown for no reason and no explanations given by management. When you ask maintenance, they said "tell us when it happens next". You’ll wonder what you’re washing yourself with,
- As mentioned in another review, windows don't close (whether you ask for repair or not). In the winter, the cold comes in a steady flow and cool your place to the point of having ice on the window sils. You will have to stop the draft with a towel or something,
- Front desk will complain to you if you park your car for more than 15 minutes while loading/unloading, all the while you wait 5+ minutes for an elevator each time. Even though there is no lack of space at that time,
- There is an hospital nearby and you’ll experience constant emergency truck sirens and honks every 5 to 20 minutes non-stop all day and quite a few at night,
- There is a Mosque on the North West corner, and I do respect any background and religion, but be aware you will hear them pray in a loud speaker in the street (on top of that tower) around 6 am some mornings.

I deeply regret moving into this complex. There really is nothing “luxury” about Normandie Court or its management team.

Construction won’t end
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building door staff and package people are great, never had a pest problem
Cons:
There’s construction on the building that’s scheduled to go on until September 2023, drilling every day, and they aren’t making accommodations for people that work from home to work in the lounge.

Good building, okay management, terrible elevators
Former Tenant
Pros:
Pet friendly, nice health club, friendly doormen
Cons:
Noise level is ABSURD. They are doing some sort of construction that has basically made my entire apartment impossible to work from home in due to the noise. It’s non stop for hours on end.

Also, it seems that after they made adjustments to the water tank a few months ago my water pressure in the sinks have been awful.

Elevators are also a mess. They need to make the times for the service elevator more narrow because when one elevator is down (which is all the time), there’s then only one usable elevator for the entire building. Workers also need to be cognizant of this - if an elevator is out they should be minimizing their own use of elevators or use the service one

Finally, security in the Plaza is awful. The amount of time they just aren’t paying attention to the door to unlock it is insane. It’s small but I shouldn’t need to loudly bang on the automatic door to get their attention to open it
Advice to owner:
Do construction after 5pm and teach staff to better respect tenants who pay to live here

Not worth it
Former Tenant
Pros:
Mailroom workers are great. Location is convenient.
Cons:
NOISE: They are doing concrete demolition and construction on the facade of the building (all of Normandie Court) for at least a year. It sounds like someone is sawing and jackhammering in the apartment.

There are constant sirens due to the hospital and a lot of traffic.

The windows and heating/ac units are very old and drafty making them inefficient.

The amenities they advertise are not included and are hundreds of dollars extra depending on your lease.

Elevators are always broken. Waiting 20 minutes is not uncommon when they are down. There's a line for the elevator in the plaza that stretches down to the package room sometimes.

Washing machines smell terrible and are moldy because they are never cleaned beyond wiping down the outside once in a while.

Rent increases are absurd.
Advice to owner:
Be realistic-old apartments with constant jackhammering, no amenities, dirty washing machines, outdated everything, are not worth $4,000. Normandie has no business raising the rent to the same level as other true luxury buildings.

Normandie Court
Former Tenant
Pros:
Rooms are very spacious, laundry in building, gym patio and pool was included with our rent and staff was very friendly
Cons:
Lounge and amenities could only be accessed by residents and couldn’t enjoy with any guests. Walls are pretty thin and it is really easy to hear neighbors

Decent Experience Here
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Friendly staff
- Easy payment and loved BuildingLink
- Energy efficient and electric bills were always cheap (I had roommates)
- Great amenities
- Spacious Apartments
- Convenient for the most part
Cons:
- Plaza security was always changing
- Area was pretty loud. Even from decently high floor we could hear the street.
- Plaza was where everyone walked their dogs so it did not smell too great
- Elevators were always broken

Normandie Court
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doorman, package room, clean building, gym & pool
Cons:
Rooftops were closed during the pandemic.
Landlord didn't decrease the rent due covid-19.
Advice to owner:
Give better rental deals to current tenants instead of new ones.

Nice building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Staff are nice, maintenance is quick
Cons:
Not flexible with resigning even during covid, crazy deals for new clients but nothing for existing tenants
Advice to owner:
Think about keeping your current tenants rather than finding new people especially when so many apartments in nyc are empty, money is money
