Decent if lacking other options
Former Tenant
Pros:
Located in a convenient neighborhood, super makes effort to clean and fix things.
Cons:
Only stairs- do not rent if you are not prepared to hike every day. The building is tilted so if you place anything round on the floor, it will roll all the way to one side. You can also tell the entire building is crooked because it shows in the walls. The ceilings are old and any water on the floor even for mere minutes, will leak down below into the downstairs apartment. There is no noise regulation, nonstop blasting of music and yelling at unholy hours through paper thin walls. There is ZERO pest control. The exterminator visits maybe once every two months if lucky. No damages get fixed properly because the owner is cheap, so the super has no supplies. Do not expect consistent hot water in winter. Some days you will have to go without, same with heat. There will be no warning of either. Packages also frequently get stolen in the building. If you’re not home, good luck. Tenants will get drunk and urinate in the front steps of building and pile their trash there. Hopeless building as is, but its in the right neighborhood if you’re looking for convenience/short walk to stores, buses/trains, supermarkets, and other amenities.
Advice to owner:
Stop being cheap and actually invest in regulating/up-keeping of the building.
