Illegal Eviction
Former Tenant
Pros:
It was a good space and neighborhood.
Cons:
The landlord was extremely rude and unavailable, not sure if she has a prejudice but it’s as if she refused to fix all the housing issues because she wanted to be friendly and have trust with our room mate who could NOT be trusted and always sabotaged the house, and to attempt to save herself in the situation she illegally evicted my family and I before our move out date. Pat & our room mate refused to give us the moving papers until the very last few days. I had to call 311 because of our room mate not handling his responsibilities as head of the house as well as her not handling her own landlord responsibilities. He’s stuffed up the tub, broken the door bell, lied about his section8 and she basically allowed it. Speaking to her and leaving notes/ letters every month and I still had to call 311 for so many different violations and landlord abuse. She even told us we could move back until she and my room mate told con Edison we were here illegally but has been collecting rent from us since 2016 or 17.
Advice to owner:
ALWAYS LISTEN & BE AVAILABLE TO YOUR TENANTS AS WELL AS HAVING MANORS AND KNOWING YOUR LANDLORD/TENANT GUIDES INSTEAD OF TRYING TO USE A MAKE BELIEVE ENTITLEMENT OVER THE LAW. IMPROVE READING SKILLS BECAUSE YOU SHOULDN’T FEEL OR BE THREATENED WHEN BEING SUMMONED TO BE A LANDLORD.
