Landlord not great
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large apartment, great area, kind neighbors.
Cons:
Buzzer only works for one side of the building and he refuses to fix it. Roaches everywhere in the entry way. Entry way is never cleaned. Told over a year ago the entryway & stairs would be repaired and they have not been. They are not safe for the elderly in the building. Bedbugs have been spotted and ignored. Took him 10+ days to even respond and around 20 for him to send an exterminator. Had to hire our own exterminator, but we’re told it’s a building issue and he has yet to address it still. Had to file official paperwork to get my security deposit back! He’s a slumlord!
Advice to owner:
Be more responsive and take better care of your properties. Tenants should not have to live in filth.

A distant father for a landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Like a distant father, he won’t bother you much
Cons:
As a distant father would, he doesn’t respond unless it’s an emergency
Advice to owner:
Perhaps open up to responses

Great rent for humans and cockroaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is perfect if you need to commute to Manhattan, right next to subway lines.
Cons:
Cockroaches cockroaches cockroaches galore no matter how much cleaning one does. Roof leaks like crazy. Bathtub vomits shit water and actual shit every day.
Advice to owner:
Fix your damn building up before renting it again.

If you want the living under an NYC slumlord experience look no further
Former Tenant
Pros:
Somewhat affordable for the neighborhood
Cons:
Everything else. Every maintenance problem and bug infestation problem you can imagine with the most unresponsive landlord you can imagine. If you want a nonstop nightmare of cockroaches and bedbugs everywhere, broken buzzers, leaking ceilings, chipping paint, bathtub flooding with dirty water from the drain, broken fridge, heat doesn’t work, etc this is the place for you.
Advice to owner:
Nothing to say really. You know exactly the kind of place you’re running here and you don’t care.

Inhumane Building Conditions
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors are nice and friendly.
Walking distance to all MTA lines.
Walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Barclays Center.
Cons:
No management or super around to call for emergencies.
Landlord ignores all complaints, unless you call 311 and then does a patch job and also knocks on your door threatening you when you complain to 311.
Landlord does not provide monthly exterminator.
Pack of rats running around in front of the building entrance and garbage area.
Bedbug problem in two apartments and landlord refused to do anything about it.
Leak coming from roof into top apartment causing the bricks on the outside of the building to crack. Landlord filled the crack outside of the building with fireproof foam visible from the street.
Tenant on top floor moved out of apartment with the roof leak because they are scared the wall is going to cave in.
Mold under sink.
Building intercom does not work and landlord refuses to fix it.
Lock for second door does not work.
Renovated rent stabilized apartments in the building without filing for permits to do renovations and removed walls in both apartments for open concept look and charges market value for them.
Gives tenants late fees on rent when tenants pay on time and does not provide proper explanation of late fees.
Made one of the elderly tenants pay cash for a leak in her apartment claiming it was her fault.
Advice to owner:
Do what you’re supposed to do!!!!
