Not worth it
Former Tenant
Pros:
Amazing neighborhood and relatively decent sized apartment units. Super takes good care of common areas like the hallway, stoop and garbage cans. No issues in winters with shoveled snow, etc. Also love the working fireplace.
Cons:
Everything is broken which means you’re overpaying for the conditions you live in. I thought it was just our apartment but was surprised to find another review with similar feedback. The building is VERY poorly insulated so it’s always freezing (sometimes warmer outside than inside) and the bills are easily $300 even with multiple sweatshirts. We can hear the neighbors above, below, and right next to us - who don’t say hi when they see you and aren’t friendly. Sometimes we hear whole conversations. Also don’t expect your things to get fixed when they’re broken. It takes forever and will be temporarily patched. So you just live with broken things (like the hot water the other review mentioned) and make it work because it’s not worth the effort to consistently reach out to the super / landlord. We do it for the neighborhood but generally would not recommend.
Advice to owner:
Unsure if they’re aware things are being patched up and not permanently fixed. May want to check receipts from Super and get tenant feedback. The units will eventually have too many broken things and be more expensive/take longer to gut and resolve.

Crumbling building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighborhood and friendly Super
Cons:
I do not recommend this building which is exorbitantly priced and offers terrible living conditions.
There is no heat in the winter, units can get to ~30 degrees. Baseboard heaters and hot water tanks are in every unit however they are lacking regular maintenance and care. One winter during the holidays my unit’s hot water tank leaked and the baseboard heaters stopped working. I had a good relationship with the landlord at that point and when I called for help she told me to take a cold shower in the frigid apartment— mind you I had called to tell her there was no hot water and the apartment was too cold to occupy. This is against code and illegal living condition in NY. I was displaced for 2 weeks during the holidays while the issues were looked into, there was little consideration for my displacement and I was simply told it was going to take time for the super to find someone to look into this because of the timing with the holidays.
Even without these issues, the walls in the building are paper thin. You can hear every noise the neighbors make above and around you. I had a terrible experience living at 211 Clinton and do not recommend it.
Advice to owner:
Find solutions for tenants during emergencies and do regular upkeep to the building.
