Preferably do not move here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apts are decent amount of space, comes with an hvac system, great water pressure, no lack of hot water. Super/landlord are receptive. Super quiet despite being close to the highway.
Cons:
So many cons— the building shakes from time to time, not sure from what. Flies are constantly present inside the building. Hallways smell really bad to the point that guests point it out. And the smell seeps into the apt because of bad insulation. Basement is unfinished and advertised laundry unit is unusable because its so disgusting to be there. Floors in apt are extremely uneven, floors are damaged and half-assed. Electricity inside apts are super unreliable (lots of flickering) and only on one side of the apt wall. Windows are terrible, extreme draft and makes conditions unliveable below 30 degrees F. Apt, again, is not insulated whatsoever, so its a terrible time to live here in the winter.
Advice to owner:
FIX THE SMELL, the floors, the basement, the electricity, the insulation… please.

Such a great experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
So much natural light. Direct sunlight. Spacious. Kitchen fully equipped. No disparities between room sizes (ideal for roommates).
Cons:
One room faces the main street and there would be some noise pollution especially at night because of the garbage trucks.
Advice to owner:
Be quicker to respond, especially when it comes to fixes within the unit.

Cozy building and apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
I lived in a 2 bedroom unit that had amazing natural light. There was no noise pollution. The building and halls were kept cleaned and neat.
Cons:
Some packages were stolen. There was no super on the premises so sometime we'd need to wait a few days to get something fixed.
Advice to owner:
Somehow make the mailing more secure, and hire a super that can be present for emergencies.

Former Tenant
Pros:
> Industrial street, meaning usually quiet on nights and weekends
> Washer & Dryer in basement (at a reasonable cost)
> Roof is accessible (via ladder) with a fantastic view of lower & midtown Manhattan
> Garbage/recycling is taken care of by building management once outside, very easy for tenant
Cons:
> Industrial street, meaning parking is impossible during normal business hours
> Basement is quite frankly disgusting. Laundry room often filled with flies
> One long-standing neighbor (has lived in building for over 10 years) is very nosy and loves to complain
> Very little natural sunlight
> Extremely hot in the summer. Most windows are too small for any window A/C units so half of my apartment is completely unused for 3 months of the year
Advice to owner:
Very affordable, especially considering the neighborhood close by. More than adequate if you don’t plan to be home a lot. Not the most comfortable surroundings if you’re a homebody.
