Made me consider getting a cat…
Former Tenant
Pros:
Love the location and courtyard, and the apartment got a ton of sunlight
Cons:
Building isn’t very well maintained. We had tons of roaches bursting out of every crevice and some mice. There were also constant issues with the pipes. Went a lot of days without hot water and our neighbor’s bathroom ceiling caved in from water damage.
Advice to owner:
The building is just in such bad shape. Not sure if it can be saved, at least with the way it is now. Needs a full gut renovation to be habitable.

Friendly Tenants but unresponsive owners
Former Tenant
Pros:
Conveniently located near subway, shops, and restaurants.
Cons:
Packages got stolen twice. Had mice in the apartment, requested for exterminator but had to wait two months for them to arrive. Not the buildings fault, but sometimes a car would be parked outside on the street blasting music afterhours.

Great and affordable spot in Park Slope
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great building overall, no issues with noise levels or neighbors. Super is very friendly, always available to help with issues with the apartment. Court yard area was always kept clean and decorated during the holiday seasons (so cute). Location is amazing- close to the subway, Prospect Park, 5th Ave, etc.
Cons:
Rooms are a bit out dated
Advice to owner:
no advice to give

It's good enough, but I can't wait to move out
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, close to train station, close to coffee, food, and bars, great trash control (employees who manage this are pleasant and helpful).
Cons:
Inconsistent heat and hot water, very cold in the winter, pest control issues (especially mice), not renovated/updated, buzzers often broken resulting in inconsistent mail/package delivery.
Advice to owner:
Would highly recommend stronger pest control measures, such as monthly inspections. Also, please prioritize heating the apartments through the winter—a single pole is the only source of heat in my bedroom and it's often turned off during cold nights.

Infested and old
Former Tenant
Pros:
Slightly cheaper than average.
Cons:
Very old building. Lots of theft. Lots of rats. Lots of cockroaches.
Advice to owner:
Renovate the entire place or reduce the rent.

Nice Apartment, not the best location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline. Apartment was nice. Garbage/recycling was east.
Cons:
People living underneath made it so cockroaches made their way to the upstairs apartments.

Things to know
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors are mostly great, 3 entrances, courtyard is pretty well maintained
Cons:
Lots of stairs which they rarely clean, they turn the water off at random, we went without heat many times, and the super wasn’t very responsive. Buzzer usually didn’t work. Roaches.
Advice to owner:
For the money you’re making, please prioritize keeping common areas clean. And fix the buzzer system. I lived on the top floor and it was a nightmare having people come over without a buzzer.

Paper thin walls
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to the subway and nice neighborhood, families, and neighbors.
Cons:
Thin walls, maybe I just got unlucky, but my neighbor plays music and blasts tv til 3am year round. I can hear my neighbor downstairs tv noise through my floors as well. One radiator doesn't work and it's never been fixed.

You can find better
Former Tenant
Pros:
The court yard is well kept and the super keeps things running smooth. An exterminator comes at the end of each month.
Cons:
It’s not worth the price, you can find better buildings in nicer areas. Water always gets shut off and there are always leaks. I’ve had mice and roaches. It’s definitely not great.
Advice to owner:
If you’re going to charge insane rents then at least use the money to reinvest more into the building to eliminate the pest issues, leaks, water problems, etc...

My scariest Halloween
Former Tenant
Pros:
They have a nice, green territory inside the building, the super kinda always trying to help and solve the problem.
Landlord lowered the price after 1year lease.
Cons:
We signed the lease week before our move in date everything looked fine, week later (Halloween evening) we started bring our stuff/furniture and discovered that apt was flooded with roaches, literally HUNDREDS of them, everywhere, behind/under cabinets, fridge, bathroom like everywhere! I was so scared to sleep in my room. Landlord send exterminator next day but it took anyway 2 weeks to rid of them. Was a nightmare! 6 month later mice was running all over our kitchen, so we have to clean and toss everything, super found some wholes and it stoped. Other thing about this apt it was so cold by winter time 60F, and the worst thing that our electric wires are so weak we couldn’t use 2 heaters (in our 2bedroom apt), cos when it’s too much devises working the electric panel go off, so one of us had to sleep in living room cos there are different wires circle or smth. They changed windows (helped a little) thank god winter wasn’t extremely cold. Another thing the pipes inside the walls are so old and rusted, so in the last month they had to remove kitchen and change pipes inside as in bathroom the toilet pipe also. Once the ceiling in the bathroom fall cos pipes upstairs were leaking. So we lived last month in constant concrete dust. Not funny
Advice to owner:
The building is too old, needs renovation

Budget Friendly Cozy Apts
Former Tenant
Pros:
The inner courtyard definitely provides a nice view and some quiet. Neighbors are half old school New Yorkers and half millennials. Doesn’t feel as gentrified. Subway is super close.
Cons:
I did have mice and needed to call an exterminator. Building only set glue traps. Exterminator with spray comes by once a month if you want. I had really noisy upstairs neighbors with huge dogs and could hear them running across the apartment. Luck of the draw I guess. I could hear stomping as well so if you’re noise sensitive I would throw caution.
