shady landlord Jasper Cooper
Former Tenant
Pros:
Actually apartments were cute - or at least were at some point in history. Building has been around since 19th century so the actual architecture of the apartments is nice, specifically the top 3. the basement one is less attractive.
Cons:
Where do I begin.
First of all, the landlord Jasper Cooper is a ghost, you were in communication with the super Evan Zyman who runs all the buildings for the landlord. The super got back to you and made repairs relatively quickly, however I realized much later this was because the apartments were illegal and so any reporting or complaints of them would result in the landlord being outed for the fraud he commits. The apartment on the 4th floor specifically was illegal because there was no access to fire escape for the other tenants which is a fire safety violation. You don't pay utilities, which is also illegal and fraud. The communal stairwell spaces are so not taken care of, its honestly hilarious how dirty and cracked the walls were, you could tell the landlord didn't care about the people living there. The basement was full of mice, roaches and the landlord uses it as storage for an eclectic collection of belongings, just mounds of random stuff that was all super dirty. The neighbors did not like or trust the landlord, and the super just turned out to be his henchmen. They barely did anything to take care of the pest problem, and now the building is condemned because it was eventually outed as being a fire safety violation, everyone had to move out and now the landlord is selling the building. Don't live in or buy this property, and don't live in any of the houses this guy owns!
Advice to owner:
be a less cruel person

Mice are bad roommates
Former Tenant
Pros:
The landlord is doing his best. It’s the owner that’s the problem
Cons:
Poor quality structure. Shady repair men. Mice and roaches everywhere. A piece of poisoned chicken was placed in the basement to get rid of mice. It didn’t work and it’s probably still there rotting away. Also the building is not up to code. It’s split into 4 units and only zoned for 2. So it’s as illegal as you can get. There’s also bars on the window that are rusted and won’t open. There’s no fire escape or roof access so unless you live on the first floor there’s a good chance this is where you will burn to death should there be a fire. I can think of a million better places that would be more pleasant to do that. Like the surface of the sun for example
Advice to owner:
Find a different way to make money. You’re not good at this
