Building and Apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cost is ok. Close to trains.
Cons:
Building is so dirty, even when they have people come to “clean” the inside still not clean. They mop but is like no soap used so just spreading dirt around. People in the building take their trash out leaking and spill garbage all over and don’t clean it.
Cost of laundry is too high and the machines are never washed. They stink from other tenants leaving laundry in there creating mold smell.
Management does nothing to repair. When I moved in the windows did not have screens, the bathroom vent was broken, no hot water in the bathroom and the AC unit in bedroom is coming off the wall there is clear damage. When I asked landlord to fix the vent the contractors they used put a big hole in the wall saying the landlord will send someone else to fix. I told the landlord and they did nothing. The hole is still there. I taped over it so bugs won’t get through because I know there are bugs in this building. When I asked landlord to look at the AC unit they asked if it was like that when I moved in as if I did the damage and did nothing to fix it.
Neighbors leave piles of shoes in the halls so sometimes is hard to walk down the stairs especially when moving large things. People can be loud but has gotten better only after complaining multiple times a day to the landlord.
Advice to owner:
There is so much that can be improved but I doubt management would ever implement any changes to improve the building. They don’t care about the tenants, the cleanliness of their buildings or improving the quality of life. But better cleaning of the common spaces and laundry units would be a good start.

Not the best; could be major improvements
Former Tenant
Pros:
The marble floor is okay
Cons:
All season management is not consistent. Sometimes I call Rachel Kohn is rude. The time I spoke with her recently wasn’t pleasant. I got locked out of my apartment because I paid a maid to clean areas that they refused to prior to me moving. I also got locked out of the building through the backyard and I called Rachel for help, she called me irresponsible for getting myself locked out. She didn’t even give me the code so I can get back inside the building. I had to find that out from the third party super once I was already inside the building. The neighbors in 1B has a ring camera that watched u from the backyard from inside their house. It’s creepy as heck and it’s a shared space. They don’t pay for they private space at all. So it’s weird that they choose to spy on people who use that space. If I call for any other reason usually Yidel Kohn barely picks up. I needed a place to stay immediately and thought of my old landlord( my bad on my part) I thought I would go back to the area I was in before when I rented a room out. When I first saw the place it was very messy, the old tenant still had packages downstairs like she had left in a hurry. Many pieces of furniture was still in the apartment. Yidel assured me that these things will be out of there and will be cleaned by the time I arrived to move in I believe on july 13,14. When I moved in there was no real cleaning done. I called Yidel and explained that this apt looked a completely mess dishonorably dismissing what he promised only a few days ago. There was some cleaning done, mopping done after the call I made but for weeks I would call Yidel saying that there were still things left behind. There was a rotten bag of potatoes in the cabinets for maybe 6 months. It made the apt stink and management barely helped. The cabinets were rusting. The sink was rusting even when I wasn’t using water in the sink. They didn’t clean the ac units so all summer long I had to deal with dust overlay on everything and when I asked for this to be cleaned I was ignored. I have dust allergies and this not being resolved really agitated my allergies. I tried to clean it myself but I wind up hyperventilating. It took nearly two months to get a bug exterminator when there are mice running rampant in the garbage pile right outside the building. Many ants and insects even though I’m on third floor. There is only one washer and dryer which u pay have 2.00( for washer) and 2.50 (for dryer). My vent in my bathroom is broken and management insists it’s not broken. It stinks in my apartment due to the past tenant so I’ve turned my one bedroom into a studio and a storage closet. Yidel Kohn has also got a violation through the department of sanitation. Oh yeah, to top of everything, the rooftop was graffitied. Can’t have nice things in areas like these. Nice building but not enough maintenance to make sure it’s alright. The neighbors are lousy and rude. There is one nice neighbor in 3B but that’s it.
Advice to owner:
Fix this place! When tenants ask you too! This building has been doing downhill for the past year. I moved here when these two (6,14 Havens pl just in case u rent out a three bedroom in 6 Havens, you’ll go through the same issues I was having I. Both buildings because I’ve lived in both since these buildings were established!
