Here for the neighborhood
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is really excellent. A few blocks from Atlantic Avenue and you can get basically anywhere on the 9 trains that go there. Plus LIRR which was great for getting to the airport on the express.
Food in the neighborhood was great. Tons of options.
Barclays center right there and BAM was awesome.
Landlord, while not very conversational or present, was very responsive and did take care of problems when asked.
Heat was actually very good as they installed a new system my 2nd year in there.
Cons:
The actual apartment is a bit of a dump to be honest. The whole building is literally over 100 years old. The floors are COMPLETELY uneven. Like I’m talking 3 inch wood blocks to level off furniture. Hard to believe honestly.
Bathroom ceiling leaked pretty wicked every 8 months to a year. (I lived there for 4 years. They did patch it up but never actually fixed the root of the problem ever. It just continued to happen over and over.
Had a mouse in there on a few occasions. Roaches were pretty gnarly for about 2 years and then didn’t see any for a while.
Overall this building is old as hell, there’s better options out there but it’s a great location and that’s really the only reason you’d want to live here.
Advice to owner:
Not a whole lot could be done outside of a massive gut renovation to this building but for what it is, its a place to sleep and be in a cool neighborhood .
