Pros:
Lived here from 2009-2011, landlord never raised rent or gave any issue with returning the deposit. Always very polite and responsive and never came over unannounced. Retrospectively (after other shittier landlords) he was the best landlord by far . Never questioned my personal life (no credit checks, application fees, pet deposits or other scams). Great prewar (I believe?) building complete with tin ceilings, exposed brick, archway doors, and fire escapes/roof access . Easily accessible to most MTA lines, prospect park , and all other neighborhood amenities like food, laundry, entertainment etc.. great spot for students, the younger crowd, or a lively couple
Cons:
This is an older building and a walk up so definitely not accessible to those with mobility issues/ the elderly .. Although there were some minor issues with the building (mostly due to age, plumbing/weather related) the landlord would always handle it within 24 hours and never tried to screw me over by making me pay or other stupid problems. The main “issue”with the property is that it is above a rowdy queer bar (which I loved!) but it can definitely get loud at all hours, along with some kooky loud neighbors.. this was never a problem for me personally ..but this is usually par for the course in Brooklyn right?
Advice to owner:
When I lived there .. the only issues with the building itself I had, seemed to be an issue because of years of neglect .. with such a great old building , I would love to see it maintained more regularly so it can live to its full potential! But otherwise loved living in this spot and renting from you !
