This place has a terrible landlord and shady management
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location, except that it was on the avenue
Cons:
The landlord will show up whenever he feels like it. He doesn’t seem to recognize that there are laws regarding renting apartments. He just does whatever he wants. He buys everything like washing machines etc used so they don’t work. I when something major inevitably breaks he’ll sit in your apartment for hours and claim to “fix” it. But he doesn’t know what he’s doing and nothing ever gets fixed. The lease it shady and says even if major things don’t work, the tenant has no recourse. Don’t move into this building if you can avoid it.
Advice to owner:
Learn the laws around renting apartments. There are laws in place for a reason. Learn them.

The Worst Place
Former Tenant
Pros:
exposed brick, public transit
Cons:
The floors are not level and desperately need to be replaced. The second bedroom is more like a closet as there are NO other closets in the unit (including a coat or linen closet). The washer/dryer never worked and there is no other laundry in the building nor were we compensated even though it was in the listing/lease. The bathroom is so small it belongs in a dive bar. Extermination is not performed regularly. The unit was not cleaned upon move in. The windows and blinds also weren’t in good condition. There was no microwave included...in 2022? Although the landlord does not reside in the building, he rents out the first floor for pool parties so there are random people in the building while tenants are not granted any access to the pool! There are also electrical problems in the building and the front doors are broken. Overall, this building is a commercial space poorly “converted” into “apartments” so the layout is nonsensical providing bad lighting etc. Our security deposit was short with no reason provided. It is also next door to a loud event space.
Advice to owner:
Stop renting this building as is

Landlord party with loud noises and lots cigarette smoking
Former Tenant
Pros:
- location, 1 block from the R, F, G trains - abundance of take out options - abundance of exposed brick in the apartment - 1 and half bedroom - washer and dryer in unit
Cons:
- Bathroom is pretty tiny - with tiny shower and sink - Shower is pretty old - Appliances were not brand new but in working condition - Unit claims it’s a 2 bedroom but the second bedroom is more like a walk-in closet or an office room with no windows. It’s like an sauna in the summer because there’s no way to install an AC - Not a lot of natural light thought out - overall has dark ambiance/vibe throughout - Walls were super thin, you could hear the neighbor next door having sexy time - Barely enough insulation - if the heat happens to not be working, you’ll freeze to death in the winter. Otherwise, the heat was not bad. - The landlord, Herbert, parties 2-3x a week (mostly on weekend nights). Loud noise and karaoke nights are the worse, and you could smell them smoking cigarettes downstairs. Our apartment was right above their party room. - The landlord never gave us our full deposit back
Advice to owner:
Stop the partying and be considerate to your tenants. Update the bathrooms and provide better wall and ceiling insulation to minimize loud noises.
