Mice, Roaches and Plumbing Issues Galore
Former Tenant
Pros:
great neighborhood, nice neighbors, good separate private room entrance layout
Cons:
- cheap and unattentive landlady - 50 mice in one calendar year despite sealing and repairs - endless roach problem despite repairs - owner non responsive to building issues or plumbing emergencies - 1911 old building, sensitive toilet that needs plumbing at the slightest issue of too much or heavy toilet paper used - took up to 3 days for landlady to call plumber to arrive and plumbing issues to be resolved leaving roommates / us in the lurch for days - landlady often did not listen to plumbing / rodent issues or want to deal with the place and never hired an exterminator despite severe rodent and pest issues - to make life remotely comfortable I replaced the 30 year old ceiling fan, ancient sink, shower head all repairs myself to have a liveable apartment. - layout of apartment (2nd and 3rd floor) is quirky and entrance does not have secure locks - would not recommend leasing or living in this apartment unless you are 18-23 years old due to layout and landlady and don’t mind dealing with pests and rodents - building gets insufferably hot in summer and there is no central AC in the building hallways
Advice to owner:
Take care of your property if you continue leasing it to tenants, hire exterminators, clean the hoarded basement entirely out to improve pest and rodent issues, renovate the building entirely due to water damage, leaks, mice holes, and animal feces in the walls and floors
