Utterly chaotic mismanagement
Former Tenant
Pros:
Stunning house in amazing location.
Cons:
Where do I start? The elderly landlady who owns and lives on the property is a very sweet, kind person. Unfortunately, the day to day management (if you can call it that) is carried out by her sons, who are constantly feuding and do not communicate with each other. In the first few months, it wasn't even clear who rent should be paid to. Over the coldest winter phase there were a couple of days where the heat was off completely (which was utterly shocking considering their mother lives in the house). Coming up to the end of the 12 month lease, one of the sons, who is around the house most often, engaged in a campaign of aggressive harassment in order to have the rent raised 60% and none of the other family members intervened.
Advice to owner:
Please hire a property manager and do not leave it up to your sons.
