fine building unless there's a problem
Former Tenant
Pros:
well-located, nice inside
Cons:
John, the owner/landlord, is sweet but terrible. Our heat was out and he tried to fix it himself, 3 times, before he'd call a professional - leaving us without heat for a month in January. We also had terrible leaks from the roof - brown water covering the walls and cielings - it got so bad we broke our lease.
Advice to owner:
Hire a professional.

Living at 423
Former Tenant
Pros:
Studio apts are big and built well, for this block the rent is a bit more affordable than other buildings in the area. Bathroom looks like a mini Scarface Miami vice vibe which is rad if you’re into that sort of thing.
- After living here for a bit, I’ve only seen 1 cockroach in the hallway.
Cons:
-We’ve collectively been without a buzzer for over a year after another tenant fought with the landlord and ripped it out of the wall before he was arrested later that week after smashing a flatscreen tv over the landlords head on the sidewalk. (Can’t make this up)
-The trash collection is a strange bin that protrudes onto the sidewalk and is more of an eye sore compared to the rest of the block.
- Landlord is super lax with actually doing what he says he will do. Always makes excuses about the city, etc. I don’t care, I lay my rent, fix the building.
- Water temp has an issue, it floats in either direction at random so you could have the water exactly where you want it and then it’s hot AF or chilly.
Advice to owner:
Hire a super to actually take care of the building. You’re getting too old and your son is oblivious and doesn’t seem to give two shits about being a landlord in training.
