Decent apartment once you overlook the downsides
Pros
The super Ilir is extremely helpful, but he is so stretched thin at time he cannot accommodate everyone. Building is close to the subway line and is fairly central in Brooklyn to commute easily, perhaps the biggest redeeming factor.
Cons
It is a bit dirty, people hanging out the lobby at all times smoking weed, roaches in the lobby / apartments (yes exterminators do come but if you miss it for the month you have to wait), people stealing packages and the owner doesn’t care at all. Certain dryers in the basement don’t work at all. The heat is sporadic (too hot, too cold). The floors are very thin so you can hear your upstairs neighbor very clearly. Some apartments are renovated (mine is), but not a gut reno, just a slight refresh. Have not had to file an official complaint yet
Advice to the owners
Take the time to renovate the building, understood it’s a rent stabilized building but the tenants would be grateful. Also be more responsive to my messages. You are quick to collect rent, but not very responsive when I need help.
Old 6-storey building
Pros
Rent stabilized, rent is cheap, laundry in building though washers are not very effective.
Cons
Apartment is old, fridge noisy and have had leaks from ceiling and windows during storms. Never properly fixed.
