Modern Renovations Disguise Classic Pre-War Building Issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
Proximity to cool areas like Franklin Ave, Generally low on bugs, Nice industrial-style renovated kitchen and bathroom, High ceilings, Pretty responsive landlord and super, cat friendly, heavy front door, neighbors usually quiet
Cons:
Buzzer worked only occasionally, ceilings so high it never got warm in the winter and stayed hot in the summer even with AC, constant group of men hanging out on the stoop and around the building, matte paint so if walls get dirty you're in for a scrub, screaming children running up and down the stairs, toilet leaked, unit facing street so extremely loud most of the time and little noise insulation
Advice to owner:
Set times the men in the front can hang out there or advise them to hang out somewhere else. Noise-proof the windows of the street facing apartments. Cover energy bill. Clean the hallways and stairs.
