Lovely building but can be problematic
Former Tenant
Pros:
Front yard with seating and grill, clean building with laundry indoors, safe neighborhood right around the way from the 3/4 train,
Cons:
The Owner/landlord lives in the building and has an unusual relationship with the tenants on the 2nd floor. They collectively spend all their time in the front yard. Don’t think about using that grill for yourself. It’s there, of course, but you won’t have privacy to use it. There will always be a smoker out there and/or the 2nd floor using the grill.
The owner fancies that building to be his own private HOA and has been known to not attend to requests of other tenants. It’s been observed by every person that no longer lives there. He’s slow to attention unless it’s the 2nd floor tenants. There was a mass exodus after lock down. He asked everyone to move out except the 2nd floor and it came across as discrimination regardless of his reasoning. It was strange that it was all the people of color that were asked to move or people that had a tense relationship with the 2nd floor.
Just be aware, if you’re not buying one of those apartments you may be subject to termination of lease based on your “fitting in”.
