Pretty good for the rent price
Former Tenant
Pros:
- great location, right around the corner from the subway and tons of great restaurants and coffee shops nearby - good natural light if you have a unit with all east facing windows and higher floor - washer dryer in unit - good size and number of closets for storage - good garbage management - this building has rent stabilized units so my rent went up 2.2% each year which was great bc it was very affordable considering the market - package delivery is mostly ok, over 3 years had 1 package stolen - they hired a guard to sit downstairs after an incident with some high schoolers hanging out and smoking in the building. He’s here during the weekdays and there haven’t been issues since - quick responses from property manager - nice super - overall after 3 years, would recommend the building since my unit is rent stabilized and for the price it’s a great deal for the size of apartment, in unit W/D and location
Cons:
-not the most renovated, the walls have layers and layers of paint and are crackling/falling off, my unit has floors that are very old and no matter how much you clean still look dirty and damaged - had an issue with my oven where it had a missing part and it took forever to order so my oven didn’t work for the first 6 months - first few months after move in had 4 roaches in the apartment, 3 found dead but after having an exterminator come I didn’t have an issue - good sound insulation, don’t hear neighbors while in bedrooms but when in the kitchen area can hear anything in the hallway. - elevator frequently has issues, was down for over a week to fix but after fixing there are still issues from time to time where it doesn’t stop on the right floor or stalls out for like 20 seconds - front door sometimes has issues where it doesn’t properly close
Advice to owner:
No bad things to say!

Truly horrible. Run away.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Crown Heights is great
Cons:
Roaches and mice. Front door of building does not lock. Kids from the nearby high schools will gather in hallways on every floor at all hours, sometimes upwards of 40 kids smoking in hallways throughout the building. It got so bad management had to hire a guard, but he's only there during school hours so the issues remain. New property manager will lie to your face on a regular basis, claiming to make repairs that aren't made and denying that problems exist. Management let us out of our lease after explaining they had no intention of fixing anything and were planning on letting it get worse.

I lived here 4 years and have mostly good things to say
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super and landlord's are quick and responsive to our requests. We've had a cockroach infestation that was quickly dealt with a couple years back, when our w/d broke it was quickly replaced, etc. We haven't had many problems with the apartment itself over the years.
Cons:
It's less of the building, but living on the first floor has been horrible because of how active the street is at nice. It's right next to a bar, it's a hangout space for teens during the school year, and we've had problems with people loitering in the building, smoking, and just generally being inconsiderate.

Solid building and management
Former Tenant
Pros:
In unit washer/dryers. Great location. Reasonable pricing. Update amenities. Very responsive with maintenance issues and assistance.
Cons:
Difficult getting back security deposit after move out
Advice to owner:
Take tenants names out of the call box after they move out. I had to block the number for the front door since I was getting calls to open a year after move out.

Decent apartment, noisy street
Former Tenant
Pros:
Only one block from the subway. Good appliance package in unit (washer dryer, dish washer, even wine cooler which is a bit unnecessary).
Cons:
Super is very difficult to reach and takes a long time to solve problems. Building across the street has very very loud and obnoxious tenants who party it up on the sidewalk and street, turning up the music volume to the max late into the night even during weekdays. Cops do nothing about it. When they play the music you can even feel the walls in the apartment vibrate.
Advice to owner:
Change the super. Possibly consider adding ceiling fans in some of the rooms to help with the stuffiness during summer time.
