Good location, terrible management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location (near many trains and the park) and huge apartment that is newly renovated (though not well). Lots of space for a good price.

Neighbors are kind, though some are very very loud.
Cons:
Management is not responsive:
Upon moving out, we were threatened with charges for “leaving the apartment a mess” when in reality it was the contractor hired after we moved who left garbage and dirt everywhere. Thankfully we had photo evidence to prove that we left the apartment in better shape than we found it.
Additionally, it took nearly 3 months and the threat of legal action for management to return our security deposit (which should have been returned within weeks, as required by the city of New York). When we tried to contact management during this time we were hung up on and had our phone numbers blocked. At one point we went 2 weeks without being able to speak to anyone.

While we were living there things were hardly better. Packages get stolen; poor renovations lead to cracks and holes which lead to pests; leaky pipes lead to ceiling damage. All of which took countless emails and calls to management to address (nothing was done about the packages and after 2 months the ceiling has yet to be repaired -- though the leak had since stoped).

Walls and floors were so thin I could hear entire conversations my neighbors are having.
Advice to owner:
Hire management who is kind, responsive, and respects the building (rather than calling it a "not so great" area where "these things happen"). Ester, the building manager, was nothing but rude and condescending the entire time we lived there and was virtually no help. In fact, she was the cause of most of our issues with the building.

The super and his wife were very friendly, though older and not the most helpful either. But he is a 5/5 for kindness and hospitality!
