Exploitative landlord with history of tenant issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious apartment with south facing living room windows, laundry in the basement, utilities were paid for
Cons:
Landlord withheld entire security deposit citing nonexistent issues and even charged us for the “gas and tolls” it took for her to visit the apartment.

Landlord had problems with every single tenant that lived in the building during our time there.

Heat was temperamental and didn’t come on consistently both winters I lived there which violated City policy.

Construction upstairs made the apartment filthy and noisy, with frequent leaks into our apartment through the ceiling.

We had a bad mice problem the landlord refused to deal with for months.
Advice to owner:
It’s exploitative to take the entire security deposit for fake charges during a global pandemic.

Clean up the trash outside the house; it’s embarrassing to live in the one filthy apartment on the block covered in trash.

Check for mice often. Make sure the heat comes on when the weather drops.
