I do not recommend anyone live in a building where the landlord lives
Former Tenant
Pros:
Quiet neighborhood, close to transportation and stores
Cons:
The unit has 2 small bedrooms 1 half bedroom and an extra tiny living room. No windows in the living room during the summer months you can pass out in the living room. The kitchen is very narrow. You can tell that the landlord turned a 1 bedroom into a 3 bedroom. The kitchen and living room were turned into the second bedroom. The kitchen has no counter space. The actual bedroom was cut and turned into 2 rooms. The landlord’s mother lives downstairs she complains about walking and when the tenant comes homes after 11pm. The landlord lives in the basement. The apartment below has a pest problem which will come up into the unit. There is no doorbell for the entire building. The mailbox does not close so anyone can get in your mailbox. The landlord usually like for the mail to be all together because she goes through the tenant’s mail before giving it to them. The mother is extremely disrespectful and rude. The landlord does not respond to issues in a timely manner. The boiler broke one winter and the landlord did not inform the tenants that it was broken and the building had no hot water for almost a week this was during thanksgiving day. This building does not need to have tenants every tenant that has rented from this landlord has complained about the conditions and disrespect. Tenants are not allowed to play music or walk quickly up the stairs you are expected to make no noise after 8pm or you will hear banging coming from downstairs as they are banging on the ceiling.
Advice to owner:
This property does not need tenants the family needs to live there alone because all tenants have made complaints about this landlord and her family
