Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews for 1381 St Johns Place in Brooklyn, NY depict a concerning picture. Issues with cleanliness, pest control, maintenance, and landlord responsiveness are significant drawbacks. Tenants are frustrated with pest infestations, unresponsive ownership, and poor infrastructure maintenance, resulting in discomfort and safety concerns. While some appreciate neighborly interactions, the prevalent problems with pests and building upkeep overshadow any positives. Recommendations for the management include urgent attention to building maintenance, pest control, and improved responsiveness to tenant issues to elevate the living experience in the building.

A Year in Hell

Pros

Both Ben and the property manager Hagar were pleasant, and they genuinely tried to help me when I encountered issues in the building.

Cons

The building is not well-maintained. The hallways are falling apart, which made me worry about the building's infrastructure. The people who live inside do not value the property or their neighbors. There's constant fighting and yelling in the hallways, trash strewn across the steps, and a general lack of consideration for the space. There is a major roach infestation in the building; in fact, one morning around 3am I used the bathroom and, as I was washing my hands and staring into the mirror, a roach fall out of the ceiling vent behind me. It was a very difficult year for me.

Advice to the owners

You will never attract people who will take care of your property if you continue to let it go uncared for.
