Not worth it
Former Tenant
Pros:
Proximity to recreation, transportation and stores.
Cons:
The entire building (interior and exterior) is never clean for more than 2 seconds. Work and repairs for the building and individual apts is low quality and cheap. Front door and the lock are cheap and always broken. Neighbors are nasty--smoking, drinking, littering in and around the building. Owners don't care; they do enough to avoid lawsuits but never enough to maintain decency. The super created illegal units in the basement.
Advice to owner:
The building has become comparable to a public housing/project building. The building is too large for 1 person to maintain. Stop hiring your friends, relatives, etc. Hire an actual company with EXPERIENCE in property management. Let the EXPERIENCED property managers hire a maintenance company and security personnel for the building. Stop hiring the lowest bidder for work without considering the quality of the work. Have your own inspectors look at work to confirm that it's finished properly.
