Terrible management, Active flooding issues
Pros
The apartment architecture is nice. It's close to the train.
Cons
Lived here less than a year and have dealt with multiple plumbing leaks and a literal flood. The flooding was due to management not maintaining the drains in the backyard. A long-standing neighbor said the same thing happened last year. We now have mold growing all over the basement level. Multiple leaks from others' water heaters and our own. The management keeps the water pressure extremely low so they don't have to pay for it. Building manager is rude and acts like the tenants are the problem. He comes into our apartment with filthy shoes and a bad attitude.
Advice to the owners
Take care of the property! It's your one job as a property manager.
Shanty town growning
Pros
great location and great amenities (roof, backyard, laundry in-building)
Cons
There is a shanty town growing / being built by the homeless people on the side of the building - they have a makeshift roof made out of tarps - and they are selling household items they have found. Many of them have drug issues and hang out on the front stoop. They do drugs and sometimes use the bathroom right in front of the building.
Advice to the owners
I am not sure - I've never owned property so I am not sure how to handle this situation. I mean, what are we supposed to do? Am I supposed to call the cops on the homeless population and potentially cause other types of problems? I know they've been asked to leave multiple times and the cops have asked them to leave before too.
