winner of worst apt and landlord in NY
Former Tenant
Pros:
cool neighborhood - apt is good size
Cons:
Everything. The landlord is unresponsive and inept. When I moved in I was told the apt had new AC and heating units. It never worked and in the heat of the summer the landlord refused to resolve the issue. The electricity would spark and go out for no reason, clearly a serious grounding issue. He threatened to blacklist me because I asked him to do his job. He wouldn’t even give me my full security deposit back because of issues that were there before I moved in. Do not rent here.
Advice to owner:
be a better person.

Landlord from hell
Former Tenant
Pros:
The space is big.
Close to the J train and buses
Location is great
My neighbors wer great. Perhaps because we shared the same trauma of dealing with this landlord
Cons:
The landlord (Tom) does not care about anything but rent. He is rude and gaslights you. His response to everything is that 'this didn't happen before". He will use intimidation tactics if you try to complain about anything that's not working in the apartment or building.
The only time you will hear from him is when the rent is due, even during Covid.
There is no regular cleaning of the hallways in building. Landlords response is that it's a small building so he doesn't need to hire anyone to clean it.
You have to manage the garbage disposal. If not disposed properly, the garbage stays out and infront of the building until th next pickup.
There is no doorbell, so package delivery is tricky. You have to basically track the delivery and wait outside so that they don't leave a pickup slip.
Advice to owner:
Be a landlord and do your job. Your job is more than just collecting rent. And stop harassing your tenants.

The worst place to live.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The size of the unit! Is the only thing I liked.
Cons:
This property don’t have garbage management, neither a súper responsable to clean the lobby, and it’s very frustrating to live in a place that is not clean and smell so bad. If you rent in here you are responsable to take you garbage out only the days it supposed to, also the owner will never answer your phone, to pay rent you need a wire transfer which charge you the rent plus a fee $30 every months, the hot water parte is horrible you have to take a while with the water open in order to get hot water, I have a very bad experience with the landlord he is a very rude guy and he rent you a unit that is not ever in good condition and if you call him to report any problem, he will tell you to fix it. I pay 4 deposit to move there, and paying 2400 rent and not ever a secure door we had there!
Advice to owner:
You need be more care about what you rent! Because this place is not in condition for people to live. All what you care is about your rent.
