Negligent Landlord: DO NOT RENT
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful old brownstone
Cons:
Landlord is completely unresponsive and does not handle maintenance requests or complaints about pests. She refused to take out the trash for months, and the building regularly gets notices that our gas and electricity will be cutoff. The building is falling apart and the landlord refuses to do any maintenance at all.

Personally, in retrospect I would consider this $500/month extra given the lack of maintenance and terrible landlord for this building.

DON'T RENT HERE Unless you like to fight with your landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartments are beautiful, original crown moldings, decorative fireplaces, great sunlight.
Cons:
Suzy Sanford is a slum lord. She does not respond to tenants, especially when she realizes she's wrong. Does not give tenants proper legal notice for reviews. Does not pay her bills on time and we get multiple turn-off notices mailed to us or posted on the building. Does not have garbage taken out despite telling us it is part of the services to building. Lets RATS run wild. Lies constantly to everyone.
Advice to owner:
Pay attention to your building. Take care of the garbage and the rats. Pay your bills.

Mice Infested Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The other tenants were nice and the block was relatively quiet. I have a hard time thinking of anything positive to say about the building itself.
Cons:
There were multiple families of mice living in the apartment - mainly in the stove. It was an issue during our entire year there and the landlord did next to nothing to help. We would catch a mouse in a trap at least every other day. The building is falling apart and has not been renovated in the last 20 years. The floors are totally warped and feels like you’re walking on a skateboard half pipe. The hallways are dark and the stairs and railings feel unsafe to walk on. The place is a slum and the landlord doesn’t seem to care or invest in any improvements. We had to mail checks to her - no option for electronic payments. Far from grocery stores and a 10+ min walk to trains. read the building violations - most were still not dealt with when we lived there and give you a sense of the decrepit state of the building and owners lack of effort to take care of the building. But I guess the rent is reasonable for what you get.
Advice to owner:
Get rid of the mice in the building and make some f*****g renovations!
