Gorgeous 1.5 Bed Apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large apartment with pantry, 2 large closets, and 6 overhead storage cupboards. Original hardwood floors, woodwork, and wooden blinds. Bay window, fire place (decorative) new stainless steel appliances and gas range stove. Good cabinet space. Nice size bathroom with window. Half bedroom fits queen size bed and has it’s own closet or could fit twin bed/bunk beds with side table. Apartment has high ceilings.

friendly landlord lives downstairs and a sweet family lives upstairs. Friendly neighbors on the street as well.

2 blocks from grocery store and laundromat. Landlord keeps front of building clean.

I moved here in 2019 and paid $1995 until 2021 when he upped by $5. Definitely feel like this is a $3000 apartment this day and age.

Heat, gas, and water all included in utilities. I only pay for electric and cable/internet. Radiator heating which I love but can be a con for some people.
Cons:
Mice! They have been my biggest issue. Landlord went and filled holes and added trim as well as set traps purchased from an exterminator but it hasn’t worked.

No laundry in building. It’s a 16-20 minute walk to the subway and not one you really want to take at night. Busses are nearby however so you can take the bus to the subway. Not very convenient though.

Street parking. Although my landlord and neighbors manage to usually get the same spots and have parking down to a science.

Inside entranceway isn’t dusted or mopped and stairs were never finished completely.

You do hear gunshots in the distance. Usually from Gates Avenue. Our street is safe for about a 3 block radius but it’s always a little risky as a woman walking in the dark.
Advice to owner:
Need to get a real exterminator to come to the building to solve the mice rather than accepting it’s an old brownstone.
