Floods & Mold Nighmares
Former Tenant
Pros:
Fairly modern and generally quick to get to the city.
Cons:
Our apartment on the ground floor was and continues to be listed as a 3 bedroom which is a blatant lie. This is a 2 bedroom at best with no living room or a 1 bedroom with a living room. The downstairs is an illegal “cellar”, not a basement, and CERTAINLY not a bedroom.

My family and I lived in this apartment for just over 5 years and our bedroom which was in the cellar flooded 21 times during that period causing approximately $10,000.00 in personal property damage.

We couldn’t just move upstairs because both of those rooms were rented out through Nooklyn.

We tried to elevate all of our belongings 6 inches off of the ground using restaurant grade metal shelving and pallets, but, because we were under street level, when the sewers would back up in the winter, sewage water came down on TOP of us from the light fixtures in the ceiling.

The landlord actually tried to hide the fact that we were living in the cellar when people from the bank came to do an inspection, and instead of removing the moldy dry wall and replacing it, only painted over it where the bank people wouldn’t be able to see it.
Advice to owner:
Be honest for a change.

Okay day to day….
Former Tenant
Pros:
Inside the unit is updated and nice. Central AC and heating. Never had any bugs or mice!
Cons:
Hallways were banged up, dirty, graffiti on the walls. Landlord would sometimes come without notice and once came early in the morning with building inspectors and insisted on him and this stranger going into my roommates bedrooms as they were in their asleep.
Advice to owner:
Clean up the halls, secure the locks on the front door, and make appointments with tenants before coming over especially if you need access to the apartment.
