Wanted: Tenant with a fetish for being ignored.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Decent sized rooms.
The neighbours are wonderful. Most have been here for 20+ years.
The neighbourhood is nice. It's not too loud but is fun and close to amenities.
Cons:
The Management company (at the time of writing this, TriHill Management. It could be someone else tomorrow) is disinterested at best. As a Tenant, you must either have a fetish for being ignored or love being confrontational because those are your only options.
The Landlord couldn't care less about any concerns and it shows. The only way you'll get them to do anything is if you've got 311 involved. This building loses heating and hot water semi-regularly (approximately every 3 months), and maintenance requests in their portal often go ignored for months on end. There is a button to request an update, however that never works and neither does their Feedback button (unsurprisingly).
Most cleaning and basic care of the property are done by the Tenants who live here (not that they get paid to do it). There is no fixed Super, don't let them fool you that a roving Super is wonderful, it's awful.
Advice to owner:
Be better. Your lack of proactive communication and care for tenants turns this building in to a place we want to escape. Fix your feedback button so we can actually provide feedback. Be easier to contact and reach (so we can actually provide feedback through a venue that isn't snarky public posting).
Clean and care for the premises as it's pretty poor that the tenants are the ones that are mopping and sweeping the corridor and stairs, and removing the rubbish that your roving Supers throw over the fence in to the backyard because they can't be bothered taking it to the road. Just pay one of the neighbours to be the Super here. He's done more for the building than all of the roving Supers combined.

looks are deceiving
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful block and neighborhood.
Cons:
Trash management is spotty and is simply not collected for weeks at a time. Pest control is unacceptable. This past year the heat and hot water have gone out for days at a time multiple times. Then, the boiler was repaired shoddily. The fire department had to be called when it was malfunctioning and filling the building with smoke because the owners were not responsive. Oh, and repairs are outsourced to a shady third-party that definitely is not based in New York. You'll never speak with a person who works directly for the company that actually owns the building.
Advice to owner:
Care about your tenants.
