879 Dekalb Ehh 😕
Former Tenant
Pros:
This apartment building was decent for my first apartment love that it has a virtual keypad to get in the building love that my apartment came with a washer dryer dishwasher nice bathroom good lighting from all windows. Very convenient lots of stores on the block supermarket on one corner a 99 cent store and Family dollar next door dominoes across the street. 38 bus stop steps away from the building 15 & 43 bus stop on the corners of the block G M & J train few blocks away 10 min walk to all trains.
Cons:
Nice but lots of cons when I viewed my apartment everything looked great when I moved in there was a large hole in my ceiling from water damage it took the Landlord 5 months to fix. Over the course of the 5 months the water damage got worse and moved to the bedrooms. When we needed any maintenance it took weeks to get a response. In the winter don’t expect heat. It’s currently winter and I haven’t had any heat. The whole building doesn’t have heat. The hot water in my apartment goes out once in a blue but my neighbors have had different experiences some have had little to no hot water at all. As far as space if your looking for a spacious apartment this isn’t the building for you. The rooms are small no closet space and barely any living room space. I opted out of buying a couch since I don’t have much living room space or plan on staying here for another year. Pest control sucks I’m on the 5 floor and there are many little rodents. I’ve had 1 or 2 and thanks to my dog she catches and kills them but my neighbors have worse experiences. There’s big rats on the first floor the garbage sits right in front the building which brings them into the building. Speaking of garbage the garbage maintenance was terrible at first the building was getting fine after fine but over the past few months they’ve gotten it together and try to maintain the garbage more than once a week. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this building to anyone the apartments are not worth the price people are paying 2000 - 3000 for BS. My contract says that after 1 year my rent will go up to 3300 and my apartment isn’t even worth that. Theres a lot the landlord needs to work on. 10 out of 10 DON’T RECOMMEND

Like the area and the building
Former Tenant
Pros:
I guess I got lucky I haven’t had a single issue. Very quiet. Thick walls. Neighbors cook me food every once in a while lol
Cons:
Everything is fine. The owner Alex seems nice and the property manager answered all my emails when I was moving in. Haven’t talked to them Since
Advice to owner:
Please renew my lease in June :)

Worst landlord in NYC (Choice NY Management)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Moving out of the building.
Cons:
- rats everywhere - no heat; boiler would constantly stop working and it would take weeks for the landlord to acknowledge it - neighbors smoke cigarettes and weed in the hallways all day - poor windows that so little to trap street lose. Dekalb is an extremely busy street - overall awful response from landlord with everything. They barely lift a finger to fix the most mundane issue, and essentially ignore you when something serious occurs. Look at their Yelp reviews vs their Google review (which make them look better than what they are! They must give free rent or other concessions for positive Google reviews)
Advice to owner:
Choice NY Management....Sell the building and let a decent company run it. Take your title as Slumlords and go.
