New Building Still Figure it Out
Former Tenant
Pros:
It's nice and new; well kept, friendly staff, decent amenities (but see cons for more), pet friendly with no additional fee, and has a decent location. Apartments are nice enough but small for the price, but that's probably on par with a lot of the newer developments. Central heating and air are a plus.
Cons:
This is a new building so the communication has been inconsistent, rules change all the time (suddenly they're asking for an additional fee for pool access, on top of the existing amenity fee); utilities were not charged for 6 months, the keyless entry system (via an app) can be glitchy. Residents haven't had access to the primary outdoor space for months. If you live in a market rate unit, you have no proper stove, just a microwave/convection oven combo--environmentally friendly, sure, but the learning curve is a challenge. Location is convenient but you are at the intersection of two incredibly busy streets. Certainly not the management's fault but if you appreciate quiet & like to keep your windows open, it's probably not for you.
Advice to owner:
Please communicate with residents in a clear and timely fashion. The newness of the building is understood but there should have been certain things in place before allowing move-ins. The bait-and-switch with the amenities is not a good look. Considering giving tenants a bit more in exchange for inconveniences.
