Black mold problem
Former Tenant
Pros:
76 Clermont is a quaint, multi-story brownstone with a nice backyard
Cons:
Unfortunately, the building has a known black mold issue, which the landlord has refused to acknowledge or address, and which forced us to move out early after my wife and I experienced severe and documented health problems. The basement sits below the lower floor that they rent out, and the basement itself is unfinished with significant water damage and visible mold growth. We called an inspector to document the issue, who confirmed the presence of black mold and explained how it was penetrating up from the basement into the master bedroom where we were living. We presented our findings to the landlord, at which point she stopped responding to us and kept most of our security deposit without explanation. I would not recommend living there until the basement is renovated and there is proof that the mold issue has been remediated.
Advice to owner:
Actually address the black mold issue in your building, and do better than to just stop responding when your tenant has legitimate concerns
