Great building in B
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super nice building in Williamsburg, great public transit access.
Cons:
The bar next door can get really loud at night sometimes, but otherwise no major complaints.
Advice to owner:
We need grills for the roof

Great building until new mgmt took over
Former Tenant
Pros:
Community environment with neighbors. Attentive Super thats always available.
Cons:
Rent increased exponentially. No room to negotiate renewal leases.
Advice to owner:
Put current residents first vs profit so the bldg isn't a revolving door of residents.

Great building, cruel management
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is amazing - close to L, G, J, M lines. Right off of Metropolitan but still on a quiet street.
Some apartments are very chic (east and west facing ones get a lot of natural light). The apartment walls are thick and the loft-like details are very nice - I believe the building used to be a pencil factory. Much better than the cookie cutter stuff in the neighborhood.
Nice rooftop, small gym but gets the job done.
Cons:
The building was sold from Gershon to Gaia in 2022. We went from a friendly management firm with personal connections and minimal rent increases to a cruel private equity firm masquerading as a landlord pushing double digit % rent increases every year. The new management is unsympathetic and unreasonable in negotiations. Many old-timers were pushed out. But hey at least we now get some spartan event with free jungle juice every 3 months!
One of Williamsburg's rare gems ruined.

One Bedroom
Former Tenant
Pros:
Excellent super. Keeps the building safe and clean. Love the location. The gym is decent. The rooftop was a savior during covid lock down but could be much nicer
Cons:
They raised our rent from $3200 to $5750, forcing us to move out. Absolutely egregious and they don't negotiate much at all so we didn't bother. We bought a house in VT and we're out of here. We have a view of a graffiti brick wall--no other view from our unit. Very low on natural light. Constant construction and bugs make it impossible to keep the windows open. it's actually hard to breathe right now from all the concrete dust coming in from the building under construction.
Advice to owner:
Be realistic about the value of your property. Your greed is ruining people's lives! For us, this was a godsend though...you made us realize that we were wasting our hard earned money here. This unit isn't worth $3200 let alone $5750. I'm excited to watch this sit until you're forced to lower rent for the next unsuspecting victim.

Beware of new owners in 2022.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice building clean
Cons:
No grill on the roof. New owners renewed everyone up 30% or more in 2022. They are unresponsive and allow their employees to rent at a reasonable rate.
Advice to owner:
Be reasonable. You are messing people's lives up.
