DO NOT LIVE HERE
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is great but not worth it.
Cons:
The management company is the absolute worst, they are terrible about responding and fixing issues. We had no heat for a week during the coldest few days of the year and they very much didn't care. Currently was also have a bed bug problem and they are refusing to deal with it in a timely manner. The building itself is absolutely disgusting and the laundry is very rarely working.

good first apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great water pressure Heat doesn’t run 24/7 so doesn’t get too hot resign offers are reasonable
Cons:
Main door doesn’t lock so unsafe and easy for people to get in. Packages almost always stolen and the super/property management aren’t sympathetic in the slightest. The stairs are also crumbling.

Noisy, Young, Overpriced
Former Tenant
Pros:
Laundry in building. The Super is somewhat responsive to maintenance requests (although his attitude is pretty crappy). Great neighborhood. Shared rooftop with nice views. Overall safe building.
Cons:
I think the median age in this building is around 24/25. It’s insane how young and inconsiderate a lot of residents are - and I’ve lived all over Brooklyn (and elsewhere) so I was shocked when I moved in here. Lots of parties and generally loud, immature neighbors. Apartments are small and walls are thin. Most apartments do not have great views or natural light. Some package thief problems and the Super will NOT help. Topaz Management is generally incompetent and I get the sense that the landlord is just another greedy tri-state dweller looking to squeeze whatever they can out of the building every year without thought to the residents. We’ve had mice and other apartments have had issues with other pests. Leaks were a huuuuge issue last year - some apartments had to go without their entire bathrooms for days on end without proper compensation. Absolutely a joke of a building for what they charge us. Edit: I had to update this because I can currently hear everything going on in the two units near me. Walls are PAPER THIN and everyone is LOUD.
Advice to owner:
Make sure apartments are properly and professionally cleaned and painted between tenants; the Super and his wife doing a half-ass job with Windex is not cutting it for the amount us residents are charged. Cut down on the rent if you’re not going to improve the building! I hate that people are so desperate to live in Williamsburg because, unfortunately, these mediocre apartments will keep being rented in a day to suckers who don’t know any better.

South 2nd
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is really helpful, and kind. The laundry room is pretty clean and it's not hard to catch a free washer to start laundry.
Cons:
That you can't go on both sides of the roof, and I would say the stairs in the common areas never being cleaned.
Advice to owner:
Clean the stairs more often

Good starter apartment + Covid deal
Former Tenant
Pros:
Youthful building, Nice roof space Central to a lot of things and really in prime williamsburg, Pretty thick walls, Exposed brick, Nice super
Cons:
Given wrong key on the first day of move-in and neither the super or the management company were available, Few roaches + mice in warm months - dead roaches would sit on stairs for a while before being cleaned, Only 3 washer + dryers for the whole building and one of each was always out (also runs through a weird system), 5th floor walk-up, Small, Heat on 5th floor was uneven in rooms, Could only contact the super by phone if it's an emergency, so unsure how to contact for smaller things, Rent went up $600 on top of price fixed from covid pricing - would definitely not pay this pricing for this small of an apartment, Water leaking in our apartment on window sills, Huge water leak from roof into the building - I think a few tik toks went viral because of the water rushing from the roof down the stairs
Advice to owner:
Price/square foot is unbelievably high considering the size of the space and maintenance of the building. The building needs some serious work, renovation, and upkeep.

Sublet Surprise in Williamsburg
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great closet space and a great neighborhood
Cons:
Always cold, worst water pressure, only two working laundry machines, all of our drains are clogged, packages get stolen.
Advice to owner:
Don’t raise the rent $1200 and change nothing in the building.

Needed to evict my roommates (because they were mice)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Rent was cheap, super was great, had a rooftop
Cons:
Moved in and immediately had a cockroach problem. 6 months later had a mouse problem for the remainder of my lease and building was very unmotivated to help. Street noise is loud, but that’s not the buildings fault.

Ok building I guess

Quiet, nice interior
Cons:
Overpriced, cockroaches, lots of package thefts with no effort to resolve
The street can get really loud. Something to keep in mind for street facing units.

Worst place I’ve lived in NYC
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors were great and welcoming
Cons:
Everything. Gas shutdown unannounced for 7 months. Hot water out multiple days, multiple times. Rats scurried down the stairs into empty first floor apts when being renovated. Owner did not acknowledge issues and stonewalled tenants. No key card given upon move, only provided a code to the entry access control system which then died during the first thunderstorm. Absolutely atrocious experience living here. No concessions given from the owner to the tenants seemed like slumlord practices to move the anchor tenants out.
