Good building with some issues
Former Tenant
Pros:
This is a rent stabilized building, so it is really hard to get apartments with rents as low as this one in this market. The supper is nice and responsive.
Cons:
Some of the apartments are old and require renovations. The building itself needs a lot of attention and the landlord is very reluctant to do the necessary repairs until things break down and need emergency attention. Meanwhile the tenants are left with no heat for days during thanksgiving. The owner has to be called several times before he actually take any action and will give excuses to not do anything. The restaurant next door (Kaskade) holds very loud parties every weekend until 2am, and the building is not soundproof.
Advice to owner:
Do not wait for things to break down before making necessary renovations and be more responsive to tenants who bring up issues.
