Great location, everything’s broken
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lots of space, some units have exposed bricks which is nice. The location is wonderful and the street is quiet
Cons:
Everything is broken and requires tons of work. Nothing has been updated in years and the sloppiness of the handiwork can be seen on everything. There’s no sound privacy and the front door doesn’t work properly. The roof leaks and the floors are all crooked. I doubt anything is really up to code.
Advice to owner:
Update the units. Invest in actually making things nice instead of always patching things up

One of the worst landlords in Greenpoint
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, rent stabilized
Cons:
I just moved from this building after almost 3 years. I loved the location and it’s a rent stabilized apartment, but its landlord, Malina Nealis, is a proper slumlord.

Please just Google her name to see how she’s been listed from years now as one of the worst landlords in this area. She has a terrible reputation in the neighborhood not only among tenants but also owners and brokers. She won’t take care of anything related to the building (she owns several in Greenpoint) and of any issue she should take responsibility by law: leaks, rodent infestations, and a long list of basic things that should make your apartment a livable space.

She is the worst landlord I have ever encountered in this city. The best advance is to Google her and see the amount of open violations. It’s a nightmare having her as a landlord.
Advice to owner:
Your tenants has the right to live in a safe, well-maintained building that are free of vermin, leaks and hazardous conditions. Your lack of responsibility and respect to your neighbors is amusing. I hope the law starts protecting more effective our community against landlords like you.

Not particularly safe
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location! And the apartments are beautiful and roomy. Ground floor units have nice backyards (for the city, anyway). Pets are allowed.
Cons:
No smoke detectors! Some door locks work, some don’t. Windows are in bad shape.
