Old School New York Building in Nice Neighborhood
Former Tenant
Pros:
It’s an old school New York Building, so the landlord is not in your business. You have privacy. No rats, an occasional roach but if you let the landlord know they take care of it eventually. Don’t leave food out- keep it clean. The neighborhood is amazing and everything you want is literally within two blocks (bank, grocery, tax accountants, laundry mats, L train is 1 minute walk so you are at first avenue in like 10 mins, good food/ bars/ restaurants etc). The neighborhood is safe and the people walking around are chill and respectful.
Cons:
The rooms are tiny, you can barely fit a bed in the master bedroom. There is also no storage space in the kitchen- I suppose what I’m describing is a typical New York apartment. Many of the units are rented out on air bnb, so people are in and out of the building all the time and some of them are noisy throwing parties etc so this isn’t ideal. If you complain about the noise they take care of it. It’s an older building so the heat doesn’t work very well, you will need a space heater for winter.
Advice to owner:
Fix up the back area for the summer-add a BBQ pit and chairs and lighting- maybe a fire pit for the fall- it’s a missed opportunity to add value to the building.
