Does The Job
Former Tenant
Pros:
Our specific unit was updated. Had it's flaws, but definitely worked for us. In-building laundry. Quiet.
Cons:
Basement where laundry is located is pretty scary. The stairs are a bit hazardous and not kept clean (tons of dust and debris). Heating is way too hot, so we keep ours off completely in the winter months. Owner/landlord relatively unresponsive.

Heavily Neglected Building with Decent Apartments
Former Tenant
Pros:
Most apartments are renovated with IKEA and decent stainless appliances
The building is on a quiet residential street
Cons:
The common areas are completely neglected
The landlord is not responsive to repairs, so many things in the building don’t work or are in complete disrepair
Advice to owner:
Renovate the common areas
Fix the things that don’t work in the apartments, including water pressure
Renovate the basement into usable space
Add a modern intercom system
This will help with tenant retention

Unresponsive Landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Modern. Private backyard.
Cons:
Basement where laundry is located is unfinished, filthy, dusty, dirt everywhere with no ventilation. The stairs to the basement are very steep & dangerous. Light doesn’t work in backyard making it difficult to enjoy after dark (which during Daylight Savings Time is 4:30pm). Kitchen faucet (which was wobbly & not secured properly to begin with) broke after 1 month of living in apartment. Contacted Landlord repeatedly for 10 plus days. No response what so ever to an unusable faucet.
Advice to owner:
Respond to tenants seeking help with issues in your building. If a tenant is sold an apartment with specific special features tenant should be able to fully enjoy what they were sold. Being non-responsive to maintenance & other issues can lead to small problems turning into massive problems.

Do Not Move Here
Former Tenant
Pros:
The area is nice but that’s it
Cons:
The landlord is absolutely awful. All he cares about is receiving the monthly rent but does ZERO upkeep of the building (it is completely filthy) and if something breaks in your apartment, best of luck getting it resolved. We didn’t have heat, broken appliances, leaks, pests, you name it we had it and it wasn’t resolved. Only option is to not move here or move out when you can.
Advice to owner:
Get another job.
