Fires and Floods - A Tale of the Reckoning
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location was wonderful - around the corner from the J/M lines, so many restaurants near by, living next to a Dollar Tree was great!
Exposed brick
Two full bathrooms
Cons:
Where to begin:
- we arrived to a place that was trashed and had graffiti on the walls, then were subsequently blamed for it when it came time to get the deposit back
- received out deposit 4 months after moving out which was pushing the legal limit in NYC
- basement flooded. We found and assessed an option for management, but they refused. The floods happened any time it rained and ended up damaging a roommate's laptop and furniture
- hazardous mold
-upon doing more research about the management company, we found that the previous rent controlled tenants were wrongfully thrust out of their home. Please look up the case online. It was really messed up (contracted workers who were supposed to fix a leak had smashed the running water for these tenants, brought the brothers to court and they ended up in jail)
Advice to owner:
Be honest to your tenants
