Fine apartment.. but beware package thief neighbor !
Former Tenant
Pros:
The rooms were spacious, and I lived near a lot of businesses and the park.
Cons:
The first floor tenant would steal packages and smoke in the hallway. We found a sleeping bag on the top floor by the roof once.

Both good and bad
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, the apartment itself is in good condition and nicely renovated, there are tons of restaurants and shops all around, just a couple blocks to the L, most of the neighbors were nice, roof access with skyline view
Cons:
The owner was not very responsive unless threatened (I. E. Unless we mentioned our rights and how his behavior is in violation of our renter rights), there was a long time known package thief living on the first floor that neither the owner nor the police did anything about, the building itself is pretty dirty and unkempt, the front door to the building was broken most of our stay.

Unit was fine, building not maintained. Bad first floor neighbor
Former Tenant
Pros:
The unit was fine, close to city fresh, central air good, hard to get repairs done
Cons:
There was a first floor neighbor running some sort of illegal activities out of his place. Rigged the front door, had it as a revolving door of his “customers”. Homeless got into the building, camped out on top floor one time.
Advice to owner:
Don’t let bad tenants stay in your units. Clean up the building and make repairs in a timely fashion

Former Tenant
Pros:
Rooftop access is great and the units are spacious and quite nice.
Cons:
The landlord could not care less about his tenants. The building is filthy and packages are often stolen. Do not leave your bike unlocked/unattended in the building as it is almost guaranteed to be stolen. The front door to the building is often broken and unlocked. This building has every violation of tenant rights in the book.

Bad landlord, great location and unit
Former Tenant
Pros:
Really charming interior and exterior. Great location.
Cons:
The landlord is just a pain. When we signed the lease he said the unit had central air and promised it would be cleaned and freshly painted when we moved in. We moved in (in the middle of the summer) to learn there was no central air and no possible way for the building to accommodate central air. Additionally the unit was a mess. The landlord refused to send someone to clean it and we were left cleaning out the leftovers in the fridge from the past tenant and scrubbing the floors. Any time we needed something repaired or fixed during our first few months he said he “forgot” weeks later or that he was sick and wasn’t able to send someone. List of offenses from Sol goes on, but that was our kind introduction.
Advice to owner:
Keep a spreadsheet of which units have which amenities and which issues are outstanding. Have empathy for the people who live in your apartments and don’t blame them for the problems that came with the unit.
