Just fine building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The roof was nice.
Cons:
The apartment was too small for the price. There was construction next door and it was INSANELY loud the building would shake which we were not warned about. Management sucked as well. We got mites and a big roach once.

Scammers and Noise
Former Tenant
Pros:
-Nice view on rooftop -Street facing bedrooms had nice light -Room size is good
Cons:
-Extremely noisy neighbors especially during nighttime hours -Building construction is cheap and faulty - fixtures/cabinets/doors are always breaking -Laundry machines frequently break down and are not fixed in a timely manner -Overall shared spaces/roof are not kept clean -Landlords/management are scammers and will try to withhold your security deposit even if you leave the apartment in good/clean condition. Take photos when you move out to prove you should get your security deposit back - don't let them take money that is rightfully yours!!!
Advice to owner:
Don't take advantage of your tenants! Keep the building clean.

Not Too Bad
Former Tenant
Pros:
Amazing roof view. Good light in street facing bedrooms. Good size bedrooms. No pest issues.
Cons:
Extremely loud street noise/music from neighbors, Mold in the basement, in-building neighbors don’t clean up roof top and often leave it messy, walls are paper thing & noise travels very easily, overall apartments are not built to last so thing a breaking often.
Advice to owner:
Make better long lasting repairs, fix mold issue, increase cleanliness of building/roof overall, do something to insulate better for noise.

Bad insulation and construction nextdoor
Former Tenant
Pros:
The rooftop view is really nice, full view of the city (minus the building across blocking a smidge). Other tenants haven't been an issue. Owners are mostly responsive but the super isn't.
Cons:
HEADS UP, the building directly next to this one is undergoing gut renovation and adding a 4th floor. Construction starts every morning at 7am on the dot, minus most weekends. It's incredibly loud and I'm not sure if the worst has yet to come. It is AWFUL and there is a clause in the lease waiving your right to construction disturbance issues. It says it'll be done fall 2021 but I highly doubt it. One of the metal rods literally drilled through to our side of the building through the brick. In our apartment, there is little to no insulation. It gets about 10 degrees hotter in my room than it is outside, or vise versa for when it's cold. Which is awful as it means either cranking the A/C or heater constantly. The sound of anyone also carries a lot and you can hear chatter from any of the rooms, which is incredibly annoying, especially if you are on a different schedule from your roommates. It's also way too small for the price. And, there's been a weevil problem in the kitchen/living room (same room) for months and the exterminator finally said months into it that we need to tell the landlord instead of him, so I doubt that'll get resolved until after we move out. Also, the lights in the bathroom flicker and turn off at random and we haven't been able to get anyone out to fix it since last year. And it seems like bugs love to crawl up through the drain as we have found a roach in the tub along with some other bugs either in there or in the rest of the apartment. We also have a strange gnat problem and don't know where they're coming from. We keep the place clean too, so it's quite odd and frustrating to deal with.
Advice to owner:
Even though the 4th floor was added on somewhat recently, it feels like corners were cut with the insulation for both temperature and sound Having a clause to remove the tenants right construction complaints is pretty shady with then having a massive construction site next door. Also, it was difficult if not impossible to get ahold of the super for other issues.
