Former Tenant
Pros:
Lower rental cost because of the state of the common areas. Apartments have some modern updates and quirks, but the craftsmanship could be better.
Cons:
Terrible common areas with unfinished walls, slanted stair cases, and unfinished floors. The garbage area is terrible, with older cans and holes / rats. The response from the owner is horrible.
Advice to owner:
Finish the property renovations to make it more desirable and respond when there is an issue or service request.

My First Slumlord / Nooklyn Sucks
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to mister lemon
Cons:
Absentee landlord who cashes checks a month late
and never responds to problems in the building, including two bedbug infestations. When he did he sent pest control that basically coated my apartment with DDT. Had to go through my Nooklyn “broker” to get in touch.

Appropriately, he tried to con his way out of paying back my security deposit. Bonus - the downstairs neighbor stole my mail constantly (including checks, which he cashed in his name like a genius).
Advice to owner:
Sell all of your properties and retire. Why are you in this game if you can’t provide basic necessities to your tenants?
