Greedy, disrepectful landlord lives on property. Not worth it!
Former Tenant
Pros:
I loved the backyard area, the deck and the windows in kitchen.
Cons:
The woman who owns the building lives on the property and should not rent to other people. She comes in your unit whenever she pleases and constantly reminds you that it’s HER place you are living in. She does not comply with landlord-tenant laws. She acts as if she is doing you a huge favor instead of the fact that you are paying her rent. She also controls the heat which is frustrating as its all about her. Also there are very loud barking dogs on both sides of the unit in the yards which pretty much live out there nonstop. That and her chickens make for a very noisy place. You can also hear every noise she makes in her unit as there is a door inside that goes from her unit up to the middle apartment. There is a huge gap in the door and you can hear her every conversation and smell every smell she conjures up. There is no privacy. She also listens to your phone conversations as she sits on the creaky stairs. It’s creepy! She hates cats and I TNR’d three cats in the backyards so they wouldn’t have kittens. Instead of thanking me, she threatened to “rid of them” as I am the reason they were all there. I moved in with no cats and there are stray and feral cats everywhere in Brooklyn. She owns 2 pet stores yet hates cats!! Then she said I could have a cat, changed her mind 2 weeks after I got him then tried to charge me pet rent or she’d kick me and the cat out. She believes animals are to be used for food or money and that they are here for our use alone. She also gets drunk and will try to pick fights. She’s a bully, changes her mind every other minute and it’s so scary to be her tenant, let alone have her living there too. I felt very unsafe a lot of the times but it was a pandemic and I had nowhere else to go.
Advice to owner:
Don’t have tenants!! You don’t respect them, their privacy or their rights.
