Pros:
Overall, it's net positive here. The apartment is well constructed, everything is solid, I can't hear noise from neighbors (good soundproofing), great layout. Amazing natural light, probably the best feature of the apartment and something all guests remark about. The roof deck is nice to have access to. The landlords are very hands-off, so they're not in your business and as long as you pay rent and play nice, they won't trouble you. Regular mopping/cleaning of shared hallways and elevator (though the elevator does always smell a bit funky).
Cons:
This is just a fact, it's a loud corner on a bus route, so there is street noise especially with the windows open. Keeping on the windows, apartments have large windows but they leak a lot of cold in the winter (not glazed/insulated), making the heating less effective. Elevator overall works but my partner has gotten stuck in it twice, and once had to involve the fire department for a rescue. Worst part, the laundry room is constantly in disrepair, I can count on one hand the number of times I've gone down there and had both a single operational washer and dryer. Usually all the washers are broken, along with some of the dryers, so I have to use a laundromat. When we first moved in the landlords didn't send a cleaner or repaint until we pushed the issue (previous tenants left it pretty filthy, we sent pictures), and only then did they send a cleaner, and said they would repaint, but would paint the place baby blue -- that was a no, so we repainted it white on our own dime. Also we have had some ants, but no other pests (ant trap took care of them).
Advice to owner:
Keep the basement amenities clean and functional!! I would be so happy if I had laundry in building that worked!
