Do not move here. The landlords are terrible.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment itself is beautiful. It had a lovely backyard that bloomed in the spring and summer. If it were in a different neighborhood and under different management it would be perfect
Cons:
Living here was a nightmare. The landlords were horrible from the beginning. We moved in the winter. When we arrived there was no heat. The heating company said the landlord needed to switch the account to us and someone need access to the basement (we do not have) in order to switch the heat on. We called for 3 days with no response. We had a stay in a hotel until they decided to respond. Throughout the apartment, light fixtures were broken, water pressure was bad (we had to call a plumber to fix, and purchased a new shower head and kitchen faucet because they at first never answered the phone and then refused). The backyard socket and the wiring in the hallway also didn't work. Luckily my father is an electrician and was able to fix this for us. We basically treated the place like we owned it and whenever something went wrong, we took care of it ourselves. What was the final straw was after I gave birth to my child. They needed to do work in the neighbors apartment, with whom we share a wall. They broke a huge wall under our kitchen sink and never patched it. Unbeknownst to us, a RAT moved into the hole and was feeding off of our trash. We first thought it was a mouse. We called our landlord, and they said they would send someone. No one ever came, and after a week of me hearing the rodent scratch under my kitchen, we called our own exterminator and he patched up the hole. When the rodent broke through the hole, that's when we realized it was a RAT and not a mouse. We called that landlord every day for a week to seal up that hole and they never sent anyone. They just said they were working on it. Meanwhile I had a newborn who I could not have running around my home for fear the rat was also doing the same. Our lease had expired a few months prior, and we were paying month to month as agreed. We paid them our last month's rent and moved out the next. We also told them we were leaving, which is more than they deserve. These evil people had the audacity to lie and say we were in arrears, to the point where they tried take us to court as a scare tactic to get us to pay them money they didn't deserve. When they realized we were going to fight them on this, they didn't even show up to the hearing. Stay the entire fuck away from this building and any building owned by these people. They care nothing for human life.
Advice to owner:
None. They are beyond help.
