The building is going down hill fast
Former Tenant
Pros:
It is in a really good location.
Cons:
There is never any heat, people are constantly stealing packages from the lobby. The super is extremely rude and unpleasant, it is not uncommon to hear him cursing tenants out and yelling at delivery people. If something is broken don't expect it to get fixed son as the super is always off site, or not answering his phone.
Advice to owner:
Find a super who is able to keep up with the building.

Horrible Super. Cockroach Heaven.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good proximity to transit. Laundry in building. Responsive to issues, for the most part.
Cons:
The super is one of the meanest people I have ever met. When told that I wouldn't be in the apartment for a appliance delivery because I was at my mother-in-law's funeral he said it was "not his problem" and that there was nothing he could do to help (I was simply asking him to let the movers into the apartment). The FIRST week of living here he berated me to badly about a mold issue in my bathroom that I had to ask him to leave my apartment THREE TIMES before he complied.
During the winter, the apartment was often well below legal temperatures; the bathroom was once 55 degrees in the middle of the day (legal temp is 68 during the day).
There have been constant cockroach problems all year and it has only bee addressed by management once.
Advice to owner:
Fire the super. Regulate your heating.

Abrasive Super, Roaches, and Heat Violations Galore
Former Tenant
Pros:
It is a small building so it is fairly quiet. The neighbors I met were nice. The kitchen has some new cabinets and tile that was nice.
Cons:
Where do I begin? I saw at least one cockroach ever week. Babies to full grown adults. When I moved in, I found 6 within the first week. The heat was consistently low the whole winter, even with space heaters. I got a space thermometer and the lowest temperature I recorded was 54 degrees, very illegal! The super was one of the rudest people I have ever met. I had to kick him out of my apartment once. A truly mean and intolerable person. The fridge broke and it took them nearly a month to replace it- and they didn't reimburse me for the groceries I lost. The hallways and lobby are filthy.
Advice to owner:
Do you know people live in your building? Then act like you care about the real humans who live there. Start with firing your super.

Very nasty super
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, close to trains.
Cons:
Really rude and nasty super. Truly horrible to be around - verbally abusive and harrassing.
