Beware of the management
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment was huge and a great price for the area. The downstairs was clean and our neighbors were chill. Garbage was always dealt with in a timely manner.
Cons:
Dealing with The Hamilton Group was one of the most exhausting experiences of my life. We had a hole in our ceiling for MONTHS which they did nothing about and then because of the schedule of the person living above us, kept asking to come when neither me or my roommate were home, which we weren't comfortable with. We also dealt with incredibly loud rats that were never dealt with and one ended up dying in the wall. Microwave also frequently short circuited the apartment.
Advice to owner:
Be more responsive to your tenants!

Well, at least my lease is up
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartment layout is very cute and spacious for what it is, charming (crumbling) exposed brick. Made lots of core memories here.
Cons:
Rat infestation, roaches, several cieling leaks, and building issues. The hallways are unsanitary and stinky. The super is overworked and underfunded so no real repairs ever get done and problems never get actually fixed. Management is useless and doesn’t care about the tenant at all.
Advice to owner:
It’s unfair and probably illegal to be renting out this apartment in the condition it is in before undergoing serious repairs.

I would keep looking for a different place
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super was nice and always around, renovated apartment, park close by, very close to the train. Grocery stores, couple bars and laundromats are walking distance.
Cons:
Building itself isn't very clean, loud neighbors. We had issues with roaches. Exterminator was supposed to come around once a month, but it was less than that and wasn't a big help

maybe look elsewhere first
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lovely neighborhood, close to the park and fun places to eat/drink, friendly super and building managers
Cons:
Had ongoing complaints about bedbugs for five months that were met with the bare minimum of response (ie, took 3 months before management would send a dog to see where problem was coming from). Communication from management was spotty and inconsistent. Building itself was dirty and problems went unresolved for long periods of time (lock on front door broke, light in landing burnt out, etc). Clear that management was trying to gentrify the building and push out residents.
Advice to owner:
Address problems when tenants ask for them to be addressed??

Don’t live here.
Former Tenant
Pros:
There are none.
Cons:
The roaches, the plumbing, the bugs, the garbage, the landlords, the front door, the mold, the drywall crumbling above our shower ceiling.
Advice to owner:
When renters tell you there is a bug problem, or a structural problem, or a plumbing problem, actually take care of it. You have an obligation to your renters to provide a living space that is worth the money they pay.
