Simone Thomas is a crook
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, easy access other parts of Brooklyn,
Cons:
Parking can be tough after 4pm. apartment smells of cat urine, landlord not helpful, apartment is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. 1 closet in the whole apartment. Landlord does not follow NYC heat laws. Neighbors are not friendly and barely speak to you or let their children play with your kids if you do not worship the same deity. Upstairs tenant is landlords mother and is very sweet but continually knocks on the door and demands to be let in to ur apt. You must use a key to exit the front door of the house (fire hazard). Landlord is a hoarder. Landlord looks for ways to secretly bill you for repairs in the home and then pull the cumulative amount from your deposit. Pest control was a problem (bees nest outside front door, large army ant infestation) and landlord advises YOU to fix the problem. Apartment has poor electrical wiring and blows a fuse when trying to use space heaters (because landlord withholds heat). Landlord overcharges for minor wear and tear (seriously) in the apt and pulls it out of deposit at the last minute.
Advice to owner:
Treat your tenants fairly. Realize that they put up with a lot living there. Stop pretending the boiler is not in your control during the colder months. Don’t charge tenants for repairs that you’re responsible for. Don’t plan on keeping the deposit. Take proper care of your ailing mother. Respond to the needs of your tenants and you won’t have to call Firas every 12 months to manage the revolving door that is your rental.
