Pros:
Nice area, close to the subway
Cons:
1)There is a Church right next to the house, I didn’t know that they ring the bell EVERY HOUR from 11 am to 7 pm, and the rings are freaking loud. Plus they love to play melodies, it sounds pretty.. at first. But you get tired of this very quickly. If you like to take a nap during the day or work late nights and you need to sleep during the day - forget about moving into this place.
2)The owner is childish and doesn’t want to take any responsibility for her house. This house has some serious issues with pests: such as ants and squirrels. We had squirrels trapped in the wall TWICE this year, which is so irritating. They make weird noises and scratch on the wall, which was driving me insane and it was very hard to get rid of them. The owner put repellent in the wall, I am allergic to it and it literally MAKES ME SICK. And she makes any kind of excuses not to take the repellent out. 3) This house has heating problems too, it was crazy cold in the winter in the apartment, I asked the owner to fix the problem, she didn’t ever try to fix it, so I got myself two heaters, and she had an audacity to ask me why the electricity bill is twice as high as it used to be. She even told me I can move out if I don’t like something (i was freezing!) but leave my deposit to her (during the global pandemic!!). 4) I care about the environment and I sort the garbage, I wash my plastics very carefully and I put them in a clear bag, as I am supposed to do, and I was very upset to find my plastics in a black garbage bag. I told the landlord she can get in a big trouble for it, she blamed me for putting the recycling garbage next to the wrong bin (the recycling one was full) and she said that her mom cannot see well and might put plastics and paper in a wrong bag, which made me so angry.. just do it yourself if your mom cannot see or get her glasses??! 5)The apartment is crazy small, it’s overpriced, and the landlord doesn’t allow pets. Plus the landlord charges extra $50 if you use an AC. There is no dishwasher, no washing machine, no drying machine and only one tiny closet. 6) The entrance is not cute, the landlord put all kinds of trash next to it, and i hate it. 7) And again, which I find very important: landlord doesn’t want to do anything until you threaten her not to pay rent. it’s really hard to push her to do something. She forgets, that renting the house comes with responsibilities.
Advice to owner:
Please do your job and fix the heating/ pests issues already! Plus get your mom some glasses and throw that old ugly stuff out you put next to the entrance and get some nice bench and flowers instead! Please understand, that owning a house comes with responsibilities. And charging $1900 for a tiny 2 bedroom apt during the global pandemic is a bit too much.
